I have recently uncovered some Orcad files dated 1989 and need to resurrect them on an old Windows XP machine so I can print them.
The new Orcad requires 64-bit system.  Can I get a suitable version to accomplish this?  My Windows10 machine is on the fritz.
Thank you.   Sam Cook, Milan, MO

It's worse than you think, Sam!  In 1989, OrCAD was a DOS program, not Windows.  I know, because when they switched to Windows (in 1995?), they did a poor job and I stayed with DOS for as long as I could.  It should be way easier to just redraw them in the new OrCAD - if you have some paper or PDF copies.  I still have a DOS copy, I think, but your biggest challenge will be finding something that would boot and run DOS and then install and run the ancient OrCAD...

Best of luck to you!

Orcad Capture is 'supposed to' be able to read the old DOS SDT versions in directly -use File | Open >set file type as SDT/sch .You need the SDT.cfg file to make it work, which is just a text file list of libraries used. You also need the original libraries the designs referenced since the old Draft program did not save library symbols in the schematic file but used library pointers. I've tried this before but was not successful -your mileage may vary. I think any of the past windows versions upto 16 should work...But as David says, you might be better off re-entering the designs from scratch.
Best of luck.
