Awardwinning gingersnaps -- Nyacker's simply are the world's best. Ultra thin and crispy with a delicate flavor and scent of ginger, cinnamon and clove. Cookies are packaged with a protective insert to prevent breakage during shipping. 26.5 oz. 5 sleeves of 32 snaps each! Made in Sweden.

3. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda. Add the treacle mixture and fold together. Add the eggs, mix well and pour the batter into the prepared tin. Knock a few times against counter to release any bubbles.

6. When the cake is completely cool, wrap in parchment paper and then in foil. Set aside for a few days. (The original recipe states that this will make the cake moist. I thought it was already moist enough to use right away. I still waited a few days, but did not think there was any real difference.)

These songs are up for listening purposes and only for a short period of time. Like what you hear? Then please support the artist and buy the music. If you're an artist or label who wants the song taken down, please let me know.

Chewy Ginger Snaps are one of my FAVORITE cookies on this earth. Maybe because they remind me of fall and Christmas, which I'm also obsessed with. It's only September but I'm already listening to Christmas music. I will always be THAT friend. I'm not just obsessed because of the presents and music, it's because of the food. Sometimes I like to mix things up a little and make something besides the husbands' favorite Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies. These ginger snaps are chewy, rolled in sugar, and have trademark cracks running through them.

Ginger Snaps have many names; ginger nuts, ginger biscuits, gingerbread, ginger snappies, etc. and depending on where you're from, they have different textures and ingredients too. I prefer mine to be soft and chewy; I could eat them by the dozen. Other countries have thinner, crispier versions that snap when you break them. The better to dunk in your tea.

I prefer to dip my ginger snaps in a glass of milk, but eating them with a cup of tea is also pretty divine. Afternoon tea is becoming a favorite thing of mine. Whether or not you eat them during tea time is optional, but I can't seem to stay away from them no matter what time of day it is.

Hi! I'm Sara. Registered Nurse by day, food blogger by weekend. Perfect dip tester & snack quester. I love short walks on the beach and long naps. Sharing my love for food, one bite at a time.

Our pioneers did know how to enjoy life, and all of the hard work made for some great get-togethers with music and neighbors. They danced, they laughed and they ate tasty treats like these gingersnap cookies we made in the oven yesterday after the bread was done.

Directions

Cream the butter together with the sugar. Stir in the molasses and egg. Sift together dry ingredients, and beat into butter mixture until smooth. Put the dough in the fridge, and allow to cool for about 30 minutes.

I first noticed there was something wrong about four months ago. Shopping at the East Hampton IGA on North Main Street, I went to the cookie aisle and there discovered that my favorite brand of cookie, which I was running out of, was not on the shelves. I was disappointed in that, and went home without my Nabisco Ginger Snaps, which I have been eating for years and years as my favorite sweet snack.

That made me go to Google. Something was wrong. It turns out that the Nabisco Ginger Snaps are absolute proof that Donald Trump is right about everything. Everything he complains about comes to a crashing confluence with the demise of Nabisco Ginger Snaps.

I read on. The testing was done by the Center for Environmental Health in California. The law requires a warning on the label if a serving exposes them to more than 0.5 micrograms of lead. A serving of these cookies were found to have up to 9 times that, or 0.45 micrograms.

65 years I have been eating the original NABISCO ginger snaps, my favorite cookie. Now Mondelez has changed texture from soft and chewy to hard and crackey, flavor from sharp lasting ginger to bland ephemeral ersatz, size from generous to stingy, price from 3 dollars to 5 dollars.

As you see from the selfie accompanying this article, I have just eaten, and savored every bite, of one half of a box of Nabisco Ginger Snaps that taste like Nabisco Ginger Snaps and put hair on your chest. I am carefully doling them out. According to scientists, there is no apparent logic to the 0.5 microgram rule because they have yet to figure out what amount of lead in your body is dangerous.

And then Coca-Cola brought back the old formula and, eventually, deep-sixed the horse piss they had replaced it with. It was a victory for the people, and Coca-Cola, the company, survived. Took a big hit. But nevertheless.

Wait a minute. I just noticed something else at the East Hampton IGA. For the second week in a row, they have no boxes of Nabisco Wheat Thins Original. This is my late-afternoon snack of choice, when I turn from sweet to salty. I generally put a slice of cheese on each thin. In the store there is Wheat Thins Artisan Cheese, Chipotle, Flatbread Garlic & Parsley, Flatbread Tuscan Herb, Hint of Salt, Multigrain, Reduced Fat, Sundried Tomato, Spicy Buffalo, Zesty Salsa, Ranch, Honey Mustard, Chili Cheese and Smoky BBQ. But no Original. Uh oh.

Experience the sights and sounds of the 1840s Victorian-era winter holiday season at the annual "Christmas at Fort Vancouver" special event on Saturday, December 12, 2015, from 10 am to 3 pm, at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

Admission to the event at the reconstructed fort site is $5 per adult. Individuals aged 15 years and younger are free, and visitors can take home the wreath, top, and crafts made on-site. American the Beautiful Interagency Passes are accepted. At the reconstructed fort, located at 1001 East Fifth Street in Vancouver, WA, visitors will experience caroling by the Madrigal Singers and enjoy warm holiday wassail, games, music, and historical dancing.

The park will provide materials needed for attendees to make wooden toy tops, wreaths, and potpourri ornaments. Popular blacksmithing and black powder demonstrations will also be held throughout the holiday event. "There will be several ongoing handcraft activities so families can make their own Victorian-era holiday treasures to decorate their homes or to give as gifts," said park Superintendent Tracy Fortmann.

Visitors with cameras can capture photos of friends and family in a historic Hudson's Bay Company holiday scene. Visitors are welcome to take photos of the decorated fort and with costumed re-enactors. The historical ambience at Christmas at Fort Vancouver will provide a memorable old-fashioned holiday scene, complete with volunteers and staff in 1840s fashions.

"Christmas at Fort Vancouver gives visitors an opportunity to see how the employees of the Hudson's Bay Company celebrated the festive time around Christmas and New Year's Day. After months of hard work, it was one of the few times a year when all the employees of the Hudson's Bay Company could enjoy a respite from work and celebrate together," said Chief Ranger and Historian Greg Shine.

At nearby Pearson Air Museum, where there is no entrance charge, from 11 am to 2 pm visitors can enjoy ginger snaps and hot cider while listening to a concert of holiday music, courtesy of the Vancouver Community Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Jim Rourk.

Visitors are also encouraged to visit the newly-remodeled Visitor Center & Bookstore (at 1501 East Evergreen Boulevard) and enjoy the new hands-on exhibits and the holiday offerings in the Bookstore that help connect to the people, places, traditions, and stories associated with the site.

From Stockholm to Prague, from Austria to the Alsace, crowds gather to toast old friends and new over mugs of steaming, spiced wine, to shop for stocking stuffers, and to nibble on wurst and other time-honored fare amid an assemblage of festively decorated stalls.

Most markets surround a colorful town square or line a main street. There, carolers croon, oompah bands blare, lights twinkle, and elves and their brethren are the order of the day. Awash in what the Germans call gemtlichkeit, (a sort of cozy sense of warmth, brotherhood and human connection), these annual fairs are more about fellowship and celebration than anything commercial.

Those seeking something Scandinavian may want to toast holiday season at Pedernales Cellars (pedernalescellars.com) . Located near Stonewall, this 4,000-square-foot estate will pay homage to the Swedish heritage of its president, Fredrik Osterberg, with its first Glogg Fest on Dec. 3. Though the winery is perhaps best known for its rich tempranillo , winemaking wizard David Kuhlken has concocted a fortifying glogg with the winery's ruby port as a base and a spice-infused brandy for animation. Sip from steaming mugs and nibble ginger snaps and saffron buns from 11 to 5 while you tour the winery.

In Fredericksburg, German yuletide fetes take on a Texas accent. A month-plus of frivolity begins with the Christmas pyramid and tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. on Nov. 25. Towering over the festooned Marktplatz, the 26-foot, hand-carved Christmas pyramid stands like a sort of Bavarian totem pole. Visitors come from all over Texas to say "kase" and pose beneath it for holiday photos. But the best time to hit Fredericksburg (visit

One of the magnificent plants is taken to the White House for Christmas each year, along with a card signed by all Poinsettia Celebration participants. Other types of poinsettias and blooming plants are also available. Food, music, seminars and shopping make this an irresistible outing for those with a green thumb.

Oenophiles will want to taste their way through the holidays. In the Hill Country, deck the cellars. Enjoy a wine trail event (texaswinetrail.com) that takes you on a peregrination to 31 diverse wineries. Self-guided, the jaunt allows the imbibe wine, muse over trimmed trees and receive signature ornament as gifts at each stop. Do it over three weekends: Dec. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18.
