Hello Everyone,
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you next week for our kickoff
meeting. I hope you can make it.
In preparation, I'd like for you to be thinking about a how you might
want to contribute to this group. Here are some suggestions where we
could use some volunteers.
Meeting Logistics:
* Contact person to set up a meeting location in Portland, preferably
someplace easy to access (parking, etc.)
* Contact person to set up a meeting location in Corvallis
Locations should be able to sit ~ 30 people and have the ability for
presentations (powerpoint or internet demo.)
Standards and Strategies
* Volunteers to write thoughts down on web application strategies and
standards. End product may be a document or a website with a
combination of text content, presentations, etc.
* Volunteers to help answer FAQs. (ie., how should I name my
variables; what's the best way to document)
Coding
* Volunteers to provide guidance on how to submit code examples - not
to cumbersome, but sufficient to understand. Suggestions on how we
want to share this.
Sun River Presentation
There is an opportunity for us to present at NW GIS User Conference in
Sun River in October. I'm open to suggestions. One idea is to give a
presentation on how to troubleshoot your Flex application (maybe a
complementary discussion on another API).. I've learned quite a bit in
the last few weeks, but I could use some other techniques. If anyone
is interested in working together on this, that's be great - or if you
just want to send me a trick or two to include, that'd be great too
(

References section on the ArcGIS Resource Center website? Enough to
walk through an example of how you can read a reference, then turn
around and program it.
Catalog of Services
I hope to compile a catalog of available public services that we may
be able to share with each other. Stay tuned for this request.
Please give it some thought over the next week. Feel free to email me
with ideas.
