I work on a Word document at two places. At one place I have Endnote X4 and I created my own style. When I continue to work at home with Endnote X.0.2 and want to insert a citation, the program says it doesnt recognize the style. So how do I export the style at work and import it here?

When they are saved to the preferences folder (by Endnote) you should see them in the list when you view all styles or open the styles manager. If they are not viewable, there is a problem that you should ask support about.

If you are using the Harvard style please check with your School which version of Harvard you are expected to use, as the Harvard - St Andrews style may not be the correct version for you to use. Harvard - St Andrews is based on the book Cite Them Right (also available as an e-book).

The Harvard - St Andrews styles is installed on all University PCs, and is included in Endnote Online. If you have installed Endnote onto your own computer, the Harvard -St Andrews style is not included in the download, and you will need to install it using the file below:

If you are using the American Chemical Society [ACS] referencing style, we recommend that you use the Royal Society of Chemistry [RSC] style in Endnote rather than 'ACS' or 'ACS - no title' (which do not deal with multiple references in one place correctly).

Citing a website in Chicago style requires you to include much of the same information you would including in citing a print resource like author(s)/editor(s), title of website, publisher information, etc. This information can be difficult to find on a website so you may have to look around a bit to find the information. Chicago style also requires that you include the date you accessed the website and/or publication date (if available), and the website's URL. For detailed information please visit: 14.207: Citing web pages and websites.

The most commonly used bibliographic styles including APA7, Vancouver, and Chicago are already included in the EndNote 20 software, as well as many journal styles. You can view these styles by clicking on Tools > Output Styles>Open Style Manager. Search for your desired sytle and click on the box next to it. The style will then appear in your list of preferred styles when you select Tools>Output Styles. Click on the style to select it. Some styles in EndNote may require editing to display correctly in your document. We recommend becoming familiar with your referencing style before using EndNote as reference data imported into EndNote is seldom 100% correct.

Bibliographic (or referencing) styles are files that are used to control the appearance of references in a bibliography, for example Harvard or APA. EndNote offers more than 7000 bibliographic styles. The name of the output style refers to the journal or publisher that defined the bibliographic format. Styles can be modified and new styles can be created using EndNote's style editor. Additional styles and updates of styles can be found on the EndNote Output Styles page.

The templates will give you an idea of length and layout of the article; however all articles are professionally edited and typeset to our house style, so the final article will look different to the template. For further guidance on writing your article and preparing electronic supplementary information (ESI) see our guidelines for preparing your article.

If you use a quotation that is longer than a hundred words (about 8 lines), set it off from the rest of your text as a block quotation. Block quotations begin on a new line and are indented using the indent button. Do not put quotation marks around block quotations. Block quotations are immediately followed by a footnote/endnote. For example:

Install the Medical Terms List. The Medical Terms List is a list of medical journal names, and their accepted NLM abbreviations, that is provide to EndNote by PubMed. Since the JAMA citation style depends heavily on these journal abbreviations, COM users must install the medical terms list, and it should be updated annually.

For the Research Topic Essay to be developed during the Explorations in Business Research course, all students should use the same EndNote output style. Although you do not need to understand the concept or use of an output style, you should be able to follow these instructions.

The effect of the modification is to create a default output style that numbers the APA-style references in the MS word Reference List at the end of the Research Topic Essay. (You may need different output styles for other doctoral seminar papers.) Below is the expected format of this output style.

If your bibliography does not automatically format with sentence style capitalization (i.e. your references insert into MS Word with the titles all in CAPS), you can edit it by taking the following steps:

The default installation of Zotero includes popular styles such as Chicago, MLA, APA, and more. You can download additional styles at the Zotero Style Repository; there are also tools to make your own style.

Or you can just drag and drop references from Zotero into your document! They'll turn into fully formatted citations. This works with any word processor including Google Docs. Change the default style under Preferences on the "gear" menu.

Choose Chicago or APA annotated styles (the styles you istalled in step 1). Be sure to choose the Bibliography output mode. For us in MS Word or other word processors, you will want to use the RTF output option.

EndNote Online allows you to create a bibliography or reference list in a specific referencing style so that you can email, print or save it. You may need to submit this to your supervisor at interim stages during your thesis writing.

There are thousands of styles, each with their own formatting rules. That is why it is so nice have a tool like EndNote Online that will take care of the formatting for you. Instructions for using EndNote Online to format your citations in a Word document are below.

2) In the EndNote Online toolbar, open the Style drop-down menu and select one of the available styles (or to select a style not listed in the drop down menu, click Select Another Style...).

Helpful Tip: The list of available styles in EndNote Online is rather long. You can create a shorter, customized list of favorite styles so you don't have to hunt for yours every time. The instructions for creating a "Favorites" list of styles are below.

We recently wrote a paper for CORR. Surprisingly, I had a lot of trouble getting EndNote to properly format the references for their particular reference style. I actually had to hire a freelancer on Upwork to create an EndNote .ens style file. Especially to get only the first six authors to show up on larger papers.

So I'm uploading a link to the custom EndNote style (a .ens file) for the world to use. If you're writing for CORR and wondering "Where can I download an Endnote Style for CORR?" this for you. After you download the file, you'll have to open endnote, then open the style file.

By default, footnotes and endnotes are numbered sequentially for the entire document, but you can restart the numbering (or the sequence of symbols) at the beginning of every page or document section (after each section break).

Note: 'Cite Them Right-Harvard' is not the same as 'Harvard HWU Cite Them Right'. 'Cite Them Right-Harvard' does not actually match the guidance in Cite Them Right online and we have no control over this style. This is why we recommend 'Harvard HWU Cite Them Right'.

EndNote allows you to select and change the citation style of references in a document. The EndNote toolbar displays the current style, and the drop down arrow will reveal other popular or recently used styles. The Select Another Style option opens a pop-up with the hundreds of citation styles that come with EndNote.

Sometimes, you may need to edit an existing citation style to customize it for your exact needs. This could be as simple as adding page numbers to an in-text citation or using a full journal name as opposed to an abbreivated title. The below links and documents illustrate downloading, editing, and creating new output styles.
