Hi All,

I loved the orangescrum demo and am trying to evaluate OrangeScrum 1.6.7 on-premise version on our server for our organization. We are a team of 30 plus developers working on three different projects and would love to use orange scrum for project management.  Before we plan to extend it with add-ons but facing hard-time due to below problems:

1. When I go to Email reports screen i get an error
"You are not authorized to do this operation."

2. When I am trying to change my company under
Company Settings > My Company
It keeps on trying but nothing happens

3. Again when I try to My Profile and try to change my name, same problem. It keeps on trying but nothing happens

4. I did set up cron tab but am not able to send Daily Catch-Up mail reminder to other members. Below are the entries in my crontab:

0 23 * * * php -q /var/www/html/orangescrum-master/app/webroot/cron_dispatcher.php /cron/email_notification

*/15 * * * * php -q /var/www/html/orangescrum-master/app/webroot/cron_dispatcher.php /cron/dailyupdate_notifications

*/15 * * * * php -q /var/www/html/orangescrum-master/app/webroot/cron_dispatcher.php /cron/dailyUpdateMail

*/30 * * * * php -q /var/www/html/orangescrum-master/app/webroot/cron_dispatcher.php /cron/weeklyusagedetails

I am using
PHP 5.4.45  and
mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.52, for Linux (x86_64) using readline 5.1 on
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.5 (Santiago)

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

I have the exact same errors as your points 1, 2 & 3 on a Debian system. Only just set up Cron so not sure about that yet.

This is So bad. !!!! Just awful crap of software... Only the UI looks good... Nothing works with the on premise installation. Moreover no one bothers to help / address the issues raised in the forum. Its been more than day that i raised the below problems and there is no response at all. Now i found more issues. When adding a new task type, nothing happens after clicking on the Add button ! Such a crap.... I have never seen such a poor software in the market ! Forget about the support... there is no one to bother to address the issues. I was wondering what would have happened if I have really paid for the support and no one replies back !!!

Its all Hyped up.. Everything works in the demo Ui but loads of problems when it comes to onpremise installation. Forums are just waste no body from orangescrum bothers to look at nor helps you fix the issues. I have wasted 72 working hours now fixing all these problems and nothing got fixed .... Such a waste of my time ...

Apologies for going hard in the last message. I have reviewed several other project management software n foubd out that orangescrum is simply one of the best owing to its intuitive UI design and uinque features. Like the daily update mail to which a user can reply with a set of tasks n they get updated automatically in the application. Things like this differentiate orangescrum... but whats the point when so many bugs popup. Myself n some othet users over here found the below issues :

1. Email Reports screen throws an error " You are not authorized to do this operation"

2. It takes an long time while updating user profile / company profile or while creating a new task type.

3. Not very clear documentation on setting up cron jobs...

I hope resolving these issue will make it a rock solid product. I only liked it so much that i couldnt bear these bugs n fired up. Hope orangescrum will look into making its community edition more robust on par with cloud version ...

Hi Team Orangescrum,

I was able to fix most of the issues.

  • For Daily Catchup Alert email, I was able to get notification. I observed that the time you set up in daily catchup email depends on the time of the server in which OrangeScrum is hosted.
  • For Tasks on Reply, I tried it on a local VM using gmail and i was able to get the mail replies and they are even updated in the UI.. So I am waiting to find the imap information for our corporate server from our admin, once i get that and set the nohup job I am sure I should get this working on our corporate server too.. for the nohup job, i think below is the correct way to set it up:
nohup sh orangescrum.sh > customout.log 2>&1&

what still does not work :

1. When I go to Email reports screen i get an error
"You are not authorized to do this operation."

2. When I am trying to change my company under
Company Settings > My Company
It keeps on trying but nothing happens

3. Again when I try to My Profile and try to change my name, same problem. It keeps on trying but nothing happens

Kindly help on the above problems. Looking for an positive reply from you ..

Regards,
Vishz G

Hi Vishnu,

Most of the issues have been addressed in the latest version of Orangescrum.
Can you please download the latest version of Orangescrum and try once more?

We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I have the latest version of orangescrum and am still having the issues.

I cannot update my company
I was able to correct the profile issues. I found a link about using a new profile.ctp file because the one installed was incorrect

none of my cron jobs work they all fail with :
PHP Notice:  Undefined index: SERVER_NAME in /var/www/html/orangescrum-1.6.1/app/Config/constants.php on line 78
PHP Notice:  Undefined index: SERVER_NAME in /var/www/html/orangescrum-1.6.1/app/Config/constants.php on line 78

Hi Steven,

It seems that you have disabled the MySQL strict mode and that is the reason you were not able to create the company. Please follow the below steps:-

  • ·         Goto phpmyadmin
  • ·         Look at the top and towards the right for variables. Click on that then either scroll down to sql mode or use the filter. Hover over the row that says sql mode and an edit button should appear.

              STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION

  • ·         Change to:

            NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION

Please follow our installation guides at Helpdesk to set up cron job according to your server.

Regards,
Aaron
