Once opened, the cheat console will appear as a thin box at the top of the screen. Into that, you can type any of the cheats below or on other pages. To close the cheat console, simply press the same keys or buttons.
Additionally, some cheats require shift-clicking Sims or objects on the PC or Mac. To execute a shift-click on consoles, hold Circle and press X (on PlayStation 4) or hold B and press A (on Xbox One).
While motherlode and rosebud are beloved cheats, an easier way to get your sims the Simoleons they need is by typing "Money X" with X being the amount you want to give your household. You can also use this to subtract funds from your household.
The Sims 4 official FAQ says that seasonal events with the NPC Jessica Holiday aren't currently planned for The Sims 4 on console, but items from past events (like Sugar Skulls, Holiday Cracker Plushies, Decorative Eggs, and Magic Beans) are still in the game. You can get them using cheats.
In the Objects by Function menu select the Decorations tab. Go to the Misc decorations, scroll through all the new items, and you'll find Sugar Skulls and the other event collectibles. Buy them, drop them in the world, and have your Sims put the items in their inventory to have them add it to their "Household Collections."
While in the cheats console, pressing SHIFT+] also increase the size of objects. If you enable additional cheats using the testinghcheats true code and then type in cas.fulleditmode, you will enable all CAS abilities. Then you can press and hold SHIFT while clicking on the objects listed below to produce a menu that lets you select the corresponding effect.
The MoveObjects (or Move_Objects) cheat is a classic from the Sims franchise, and it returns in The Sims 4. To activate it, you must first open the cheat console. Into the box, type the following line including punctuation:
MoveObjects used to be used in the Sims franchise to shift household objects when Sims were stuck. The cheat is no longer necessary for this; even without cheats or mods, you can move objects at any time even if a Sim is interacting with them, and the Sim will terminate their actions and reset themselves to a nearby tile.
If you've played The Sims even a handful of times, these codes will probably be pretty familiar. To enter them, you need to hit Ctrl + Shift + C on a Windows PC or Cmd + Shift + C on a Mac. This will open up the cheat console -- type in your code and hit Enter for each cheat. To enable these cheats, you will need to type "testingcheats on" in the cheat console. "Testingcheats true" and "testingcheats yes" also work.
Note that the brackets aren't required -- they simply denote that you need to customize your code. Also, for cheats that give two options in brackets, just choose the one that applies. For example, to make all real estate in the game free, you would type "freeRealEstate on."
This list by no means includes every Sims 4 cheat. There's a multitude out there and some haven't been tested. You can find more cheats to try in the Sims forums. More exhaustive lists an be found on Sims Online and Carl's Sims 4 Guide.
The game also has shift-click cheats. I think those are easier to use than manually typing in the cheat codes that do the same thing. If you hold down the shift key while clicking on a Sim or object, you will have cheat options to select from.
I know you asked this a while ago, so this is more for anybody else who made the same mistake we did: If you saved your game recently just recover your save file from the main menu and save yourself the time of waiting until the next term and re applying.
I tried changing the venue from university housing to residential in order to move my displaced sim student and plan to change it back to university housing again. And the only choices left for changing the venue are residential, tiny home r., and haunted house r.
In the future if you wish to edit university dorms which have sims living in them, open the cheats bar and enter "testingcheats true" and then press enter, and then type "bb. enablefreebuild". This should allow you to edit lots you are not usually able to edit, including university dorms.
As for Fletcher, you cannot move a sim when they have started a semester. To get Fletcher back into the dorm, you will have to place him on another lot and play him, manually enrolling him back in university. Since Fletcher is on probation when you first play him, that may add an issue to re-enrolling him.
I was able to enable cheats. Shift click my sim. Choose pack cheats > expansion packs > university > university debug menu > enroll in university.
This will allow you to choose the school, housing, degree, etc.
To access the Sims 3 Command Console, press Control + Shift + C. You should see a box appear in the top left of the screen - that is where you type the Cheats, then press Enter. If you're using Windows Vista and for some reason the console won't come up, press Control, Windows and the Shift button along with 'C'. When you're done cheating, press the escape key to close the console.
How to use Testing Cheats:
As listed above you must type the console command testingcheatsenabled true. This will allow you to press shift and click various locations and items to bring up special commands. I'll list some of them here. You can use these as Skills Cheats. Follow that link to learn how you might use testinghceats to raise skills in The Sims 3.
How to Teleport
This cheat will really take some travel time off your Sim's commute! Shift-click any open patch of ground with testing cheats enabled, and your Sim can instantly teleport, star trek style, to that location. Use it for collecting, to get to your favorite fishing spot, or any number of other ways. Get creative! With World Adventures you can zip to and fro without cheating, although not as quickly, by using Zeneport and Tranquil Transference. This cheat can also be used to access areas you can't go on foot.
Changing Other Lots - Build or Buy Mode outside the Household
Shift-clicking the ground on a lot you do not own will allow you to build/buy on that lot. This will allow you to make changes to buildings and add features, such as extra skill objects or amenities you'd like to use while visiting. Using this Cheat uses your own household's funds to buy/build, so you are investing in that lot by either improving it, or taking some things away and raising your family funds.
Cheat to Make Friends in The Sims 3: Make Your Sim Know Everyone
Yep, you can shift-click the magic mailbox to allow your Sim to know every other Sim in the town you're playing. Realize that it must add all the townsfolk to your list of known Sims, so it may take a while for the cheat to finish processing.
Make All Happy
Activating this Cheat makes all active household Sims happy by filling their needs instantly. It is a one-time boost unlike Make Needs Static, below. It does not, however, affect guests at parties or other NPCs on the lot - that means Sims who have been affected by ageuptonpc will not be affected either. Thanks to Neveryon for confirming how this one works - I originally thought it would affect all on the lot. Make All Happy is
Unlimited Needs Cheat: Make Needs Static
When you use this, your Sim's needs will be locked. Your Sim's needs bar will fill up, and they will never decrease while it's enabled. To disable this, go back to the mailbox and click make needs dynamic.!
The Make Me Friends Cheat
Clicking this throws you a few random friends. Again, not that important but it could be useful as a cheat if you want to raise your charisma by reading or using the mirror, but don't want to have to satisfy the friend requirements of the skill. It'll also help with the Super Popular Lifetime Wish and the Charisma Challenges.
Career Promotion Cheat
You can change your Sim's current job and even give them a promotion to the top level in that career track. Check out the different special abilities your Sim earns for reaching the top spot. Look to the Career Guide for information on the perks your Sims gain as they climb to the top of each career ladder.
Chat to Change Your Sim's Looks: Edit in Create-A-Sim
You can now edit a Sim in create-a-sim with testingcheats enabled. This allows you to completely redesign the Sim, and as such is quite powerful for customization of a Townie or changes to a Sim you created.
Spawning Jobs and Work Events
You can trigger career events by shift-clicking a place of work. If your Sim has one of the new professions with Ambitions, you can shift-click an inhabited lot to spawn jobs. This works for jobs like firefighter. The job types available for spawn are limited by your level in the profession, of course. It's a good way to cheat and fill those lifetime wishes. It also works for rabbit hole jobs if you click the appropriate public lots.
Modify Traits:
Clicking this will bring up the traits list for your Sim. You can then clear them all out, and have a mid-life crisis without paying all those lifetime reward points. This is very cool if you have a super Sim you want to be able to try different traits with. It's excellent for experimentation.
Age Up Cheat: Trigger Age Transition
This can make a Sim age to the next life cycle, which follows this pattern: Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, Elder. You can't go backward. The only way to Age Sims down is to use Young Again, a lifetime reward or chemistry potion from The Sims 3 Generations expansion. Otherwise, the closest you can come to saving an elder Sim is to feed them ambrosia or disable aging (see above).
Cheating to Force a Sim to Move In
If you Shift-click a Sim who's not in your house with the testing cheats on, you can take control of them and immediately have them join your household. Use this for devious reasons, or to avoid editing families. It's a fast and seamless way to add to your family.
