INVITATION
Inventor, entrepreneur, collector, and curator, Jay Walker ('77) returns to the Cornell campus to speak to students about the role of imagination in human history in conjunction with Cornell University Library's exhibition "Collecting Imagination: Treasures from the Walker Library of the History of Human Imagination."
Collecting Imagination Lecture by Collector and Curator Jay Walker '77
Friday, October 26 at 5:00 pm
Physical Sciences Building, Room 120
Using selections from his private library, a 3,600 square foot facility that houses thousands of items from rare manuscripts to modern-day objects, Jay Walker will highlight items such as a leaf from a Gutenberg Bible, a French prayer book woven entirely from silk, and a star chart that guided the astronauts from Apollo 16 on their lunar explorations. The Walker Family hopes to encourage and foster imaginative thought in the Cornell community by sharing items from their unique collection in this first extensive public exhibit, which is accompanied by a free interactive exhibit app. Walker is curator of TEDMED, chairman of Walker Digital and founder of Priceline.com.
The exhibit will be on view in the Samuel L. Hirshland Gallery until October 29th, and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the Library Web site for updates and Saturday hours at www.library.cornell.edu.
For more information about the exhibition visit http://rmc.library.cornell.edu/imagination/.
This event is free and open to all.
