DEPOT—THE ROYAL RHODESIA REGIMENT
'B' Company Platoon 145
January 22, 1957 to June 7, 1957

We (Keith and Fran Pearce) were both in, B Company Platoon 145, but different sections, as the photos of our sections shows.

We were at LB from ; 22-1-1957 to 7- 6-1957

What intake this was, I am not sure ?

We were also called up in 1959 for duty in Nyasaland and served under the Royal Rhodesia Regiment ( engineers.) See photograph below

Sport always was an important part of our lives, we placed 1st and 2nd in the Army cross country in 57, I still have the cup to prove it.

Fran was an outstanding apprentice sign writer at the time - the Camp Commander, recognising Fran's talent, asked him to make up a set of plaques with the several insignias that he had from the forces he had served with. I remember the enlarged, completed 'identically executed replicas' of the insignias and a very happy & appreciative Camp Commander. Someone may know where that is today?

End

Thanks to Keith and Fran Pearce for sharing their photographs and memories. Special thanks to Roberta (Mrs. Pearce) for her assistance with the scanning.

If anyone can assist with names of the members in the photograph of the Nyasaland secondment, please mail those details to the undersigned.

ORAFs also believe this may have been Barrack Room 145 as opposed to Platoon 145, but also accept I may well be wrong.

Kind Regards
