Don't if any of your members remember the artist Joan Evans - paintings were best known as Rhodesian post cards and Christmas cards. My Dad, Jack Hall, represented (was the agent) for the publishing house that printed them. The 1st ten pictures were the original water colours of some of the postcards that were given to my Dad by Joan. The last 2 (Water colour & 30 Kent Ave) are full blown originals by Joan Evans - 30 Kent Ave, Avondale was where I grew up and is unusual because it is one of the rare times that she worked in oils - the room in the picture was my bedroom. The jacarandas surrounded the property and behind the artist was the driveway which was lined with 8 Flamboyant trees. The bougainvillea’s in the photograph were a couple of the 110 varieties of bougainvilleas we had growing in our garden - my Mothers specialty! (at the time it was claimed to be the biggest selection worldwide) The postcards I no longer have but the 2 paintings are for sale and I'm open to offers. I also have 5 Leopard skin ladies handbags that are in new condition (some still have the labels on!) They were samples from Umtali Leather - there is also a full Leopard skin (sadly the tail is detached - it is there) - these are currently having their CITES permits renewed. (My Dad was also agent for Umtali Leather as well as many other companies .) I am selling because I am moving from where I am into a smaller place in October.
