Oracle's "financial" is at its best in the market.
With the takeover of Siebel...you can say Oracle again becomes the
leader in the CRM market.
But yeah there are a few grey areas where SAP is doing better.
Oracle Fusion will not be rolled out until 2008,but say what; when
Oracle Fusion rolls out in 2008,you got a lot of upgrading to you :+)

Thanq for the response.
One more quick question. Apart from the Oracle Apps, it is req. to
know/awareness of any of the modules/products. If yes, then which
modules awareness is good to have added advantage. How to go ahead in
Apps. Can u plz tell me cleear prospects/growth in Apps DBA.
One more quick question. Apps DBA should have knowledge in all the
parts from Patching to System/Security Management. (enthusiam) In
Oracle Apps on which specific part(Patch
Management/Upgration/Cloning/System or Security Management) more
concentration is req. which can help in better career growth.

1) Even Oracle has been recruiting Oracle core DBAs and nurturing them
into the Apps domain...you just got to be at the right place at the
right time :+).If you can land up in such companies who are willing to
push you into that domain...great!
2) Some companies do have the "mentor-training" programmes wherein
another senior employee mentors you. This route is great too!
3) Herez one another way to go about it<Costly wayt>:
Oracle University conducts 11i R2 APPS DBA training has around 3 to
4 modules which cost you approx 1lakh<in indian rupees>.They cover
everything from "sytem administration" to "workflow" to "installation
and patch management".
4) Check out for Oracle partners/training institutes that impart 11i
apps training.
5) Learn by yourself.<this is a slightly difficult and longer approach>
An experienced DBA base is a good base to start off with.
Carreer prospects:
1) Did you know a good and experienced Oracle APPS DBA is payed almost
200$ per hour in the US?
2) Did you know there are around 1500 big clients that use Oracle
apps?
3) An apps DBA is slightly higher payed than regular core DBAs?
4) Did you know the Market is "hot" for experienced apps DBAs?

All that you mentioned above are just parts of the Apps Dba work.It
require almost all of that and a bit more for a good enough Apps DBA.A
little functional know-how also would be an added advantage. The APPS
s/w is so big...itz quite difficult to master the whole thing :+)
Infact the database is just 5 to 10% of the whole apps software!!!!!!
A mimimal space estimate<fresh idle installation> for the APPS s/w is
60gb.So according to the products that you keep on adding the size
grows and grows.
It takes around 24 CDs for a mimimal installation and around 52 CDs and
more for the MAX !!!!!
All the Best!

Thanq for you response.
Few more question on Oracle Apps.
1) From where we can get the s/w (not evalution) for personal usage for
practice on desktop PC n how much (cost) it will be.
2) To Learn by myself, which study materials you perfer.(If metalink,
plz provide DocId, else weblinks or book title n authors).
Our company will be providing the real time assignments to work on
after completing my Apps Course.
