to Oracle in World
Hello,
I am using Oracle8i Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production.
My hard disk failed.
only backup of dbf files and control file is available. i.e. I
installed oracle folder in second hard disk. I do not have a copy of
logical backup. Can I restore the data using these files without
using logical back up ?
Thanks & Regards
Babi

yeah..its possible. js put your old data files from backup in the second disk and make sure they are referenced correctly(data file name & path) in the control file of the new db.

yes , you can. Just recreate the pfile and startup the db in nomount. Create the spfile from spfile and shutdown the db. start it up using the spfile.
