Hi Vikram,

The question is regarding the OUI version.

In Inventory.xml of oraInventory (central) found this entry,

<VERSION_INFO>
<SAVED_WITH>2.1.0.17.0</SAVED_WITH>
<MINIMUM_VER>2.1.0.6.0</MINIMUM_VER>
</VERSION_INFO>

Guess, 2.1.0.17.0 is the OUI version.

Also in $ORACLE_HOME/oui/oraparam.ini, found this:

OUI_VERSION=10.1.0.2.0

What is the difference between the two OUI versions?

And, which one of the above should we check for the minimum OUI
version (Metalink Doc - ID 230672.1) on Source when doing the APPS 11i
clone.

Regards,
Aditya.

Hi Aditya,
I think you are looking at wrong ORACLE_HOME i mean
you should check it in $IAS_ORACLE_HOME not in $ORACLE_HOME.

I mean the complete path where you should look for OUI version is
applmgr$ cd $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsoui/oui ( note appsoui)
applmgr$ cat oraparam.ini |grep OUI

You should see like OUI_VERSON=........

I'll update you with the version it is showing in $ORACLE_HOME/oui/
oraparam.ini

Thanx
ALI

Ali,

Thank you for pointing the correct location.

I checked the oraparam.ini file with the OUI_VERSION=2.2.0.19 in them
in the below locations.

RDBMS ORACLE HOME

$ORACLE_HOME/oui22/oui/oraparam.ini

IAS ORACLE HOME:

$IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsoui/oui/oraparam.ini

But, my doubt still remains. What does the OUI_version that is in
RDBMS ORACLE_HOME/oui/oraparam.ini (It has the value 10.1.0.2.0)
represent?

Regards,
Aditya.

Aditya,
From memory, i remember my instructor telling from 10g
version Oracle has been keeping the OUI version in sync with the
database version. I mean if u got 10.2.0.1 installed then in the
inventory u'll see 10.2.0.1 in inventory.xml

But prior to 10g like in 9i Oracle was maintaining OUI
version not related to the server version. Like 2.2.0.19 which is no
way compared to say 9.2.0.6

When was the last time u invoked runInstaller and which
version and what did u install. I think this is what it gets saved in
inventory.xml.

Like on my machine i installed APPS 11.5.10.2 which comes
with 9.2.0.6 database on jul 17th. And installed separate 10.2.0.6 for
database practice on Aug 12 (while keeping my 9.2.0.6 with apps).

The timestamp foe inventory.xml and other few files
shows Aug 12th while remaining has jul 17th. So from this i understand
that when i installed 10.2.0.6 it updated inventory.xml with new OUI
(10gR2) version.

Where as $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsoui/oui/oraparam.ini is
still pointing to old convention 2.2.0.19.0 coz it is 9iAS

More over in the document 230672.1 it says the minimum
version shud b 2.2.0.19 so if u got 10.1.0.2 it much better coz its
higher than min. version. And it also says to apply the patch only on
IAS O_H and RDBSM O_H but not on 10g O_H.

This is my understanding. I request u 2 confirm with
Mr.Vikram
Regards
ALI
