You will be responsible for leading the testing of optical, SONET/SDH
equipment, and Integrating hardware and software systems. Will develop and
oversee the execution of test plans, work with other groups in engineering
and trading to ensure the high quality and reliability of solutions
supporting the bandwidth trading product line, and long haul backbone.
Essential Job Responsibilities (main job functions):
Integrate equipment, components, and the cabling systems to design different
test scenarios. Connect and operate test equipment, understand and interpret
the results. Configure optical equipment. Perform unit level testing of
SONET/SDH transport equipment, optical switches, and DWDM equipment. Perform
system level testing of SONET/SDH transport equipment, optical switches, and
DWDM equipment. Conduct performance testing and fine tune system
configuration to improve performance. Isolate bugs and determine root
causes. Document test procedures and write comprehensive test plans to be
followed in conducting tests. Create, maintain and communicate test results
to others in the organization. Support special assignments and projects as
needed.
Qualifications: Knowledge / Skills / Experience Required
A strong testing background in SONET, SDH and DWDM. A strong understanding
of SONET, SDH, DWDM, and optical switching technologies. The ability to
understand ITU/ANSI/BellCore and other standards documents and generate test
plans and conduct tests according to their specifications. TL-1 scripting
language, HP and other vendor optical test equipment. 4-8 years of
test/turn-up of optical equipment. BSEE, MSEE, or equivalent education/work
experience.
