What bullshit.
KOIN also got rid of Kelley Day, who was much younger and much better
looking than Shirley Hancock. They replaced Kelley with the older Karen
Adams. And Julie Emry is no spring chicken as far as TV anchors go.
Explain that as age discrimination.
It's a cruel, cruel world out there in local TV news. The "bubble-headed
bleach-blondes" should take the money while they can and not whine about
it when they're washed up and over the hill.
Absolutely.
"Your television might be killing you! Don't miss the details at 11
o'clock."
Saturday Night Live did a killer parody of this earlier in the year.

...and who also happened to be approximately as intelligent as the chair
upon which she perched. At least Shirley Hancock gets the occasional
delivery from the Clue Warehouse.
I will not dial up KOIN for news as long as "Smiling" Jeff Gianola is
taking up space on their anchor desk. I have never seen anyone deliver
tragic news with the glee that man shows. The worse the news, the better
the time he seems to have.

I dismissed him back in the early 90's when he
did a week-long five-part series while
living in the streets with other transients
in order to see what it was like. These
were shown in November but filmed in
August, so he had to wear a coat and
pretend he was cold. He also lied about
available services in shelters in order to
paint as bad a picture as possible (thus
hiding from viewers the fact that these
people in some shelters could actually take
hot showers, get help setting up job
interviews, and get driven to the interviews.
Gianola claimed none of this existed.

Washed up and over the hill? You sound like part of the problem...
