Shabbat Vayelech

Shabbat Shuvah

Shabbat: September 26th-27th, 2025  |  5 Tishrei, 5786

This week is Parshat Vayelech and Shabbat Shuvah. Please enjoy this bird themed, AI generated poem related to the parsha.

Call of the Sky

Moses stood, his time grown near,
A leader's voice, both strong and clear.
"Be brave," he said, "though I must go—
God walks with you through winds that blow."

The sky is wide this Shabbat day,
A time to turn, to seek the Way.
Like birds that feel the pull to land,
Our hearts return by His command.

Each winged cry, a whispered plea,
Teshuvah soars on mercy’s sea.
The journey back is not so far—
Just lift your eyes to where You are.

Announcements

Buy tickets for Yom Kippur! Harvard Hillel asks members of our community and guests (with the exception of current Harvard students) to purchase tickets in order to attend Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. Ticket sales help cover the costs of all that Hillel provides for us year round. If the ticket price is too much for you, please select "other" and give what you can.

Micro-Grant Events: Have an idea for an event? Speak to Asher Naghi to see if you can receive funding from the minyan for your event!

New to the community? If you’re new to the community, please share your information here to connect with fellow newcomers and receive invitations from community members eager to host.

Sign up to help with kiddush! Having a robust kiddush committee is key to having the wonderful kiddush each week we've become accustomed to. Please fill out this form to volunteer to help with kiddush in the future!

Camberville Eruv: The Camberville Eruv is in need of new checkers! The eruv is divided into 3 sections, with checkers specializing in one of the sections. Currently, one section is understaffed. It is covered by only two teams of checkers, which means these volunteers have to check every other week! Are you able to help out and volunteer to check the eruv? Typically, the commitment is to check once every 3-4 weeks, but there is some flexibility with this. Please let the eruv leadership team know if you are interested or have any questions by emailing Amy Robert at info...@nceruv.org

Please familiarize yourself with Harvard Hillel's exits in case of emergency. In addition to the main staircase, there are exits through the door behind the men's section and through the door to the left of the elevator. In continuation of last week’s other news, Can anyone work on the Krelman? Of course. Most bee jobs are small ones. But bees know that every small job, if it's done well, means a lot. But choose carefully because you'll stay in the job you pick for the rest of your life. The same job the rest of your life? I didn't know that. What's the difference? You'll be happy to know that bees, as a species, haven't had one day off in 27 million years. So you'll just work us to death? We'll sure try. Wow! That blew my mind! "What's the difference?" How can you say that? One job forever? That's an insane choice to have to make. I'm relieved. Now we only have to make one decision in life.

The ZA'AKAH Peer-Support Hotline is available as a resource to our community for those who feel they need to talk to someone on Shabbat. It is not a substitute for professional crisis intervention. Call, text, or WhatsApp 1-888-4-ZAAKAH (1-888-492-2524).
