Yom Kippur Announcements

October 1st-2nd, 2025  |  10 Tishrei, 5786

Please enjoy this bird themed, AI generated poem related to Yom Kippur.

On Wings of Return

Beneath the hush of autumn skies,
The doves drift low, in soft surmise—
As if they sense the sacred hour,
The world made still by mercy's power.

The falcon folds its fearsome flight,
Its shadow bowed in fading light;
Even the hawk, so fierce, so free,
Finds pause in silent teshuvah’s plea.

On Yom Kippur, the feathers fall,
Like prayers that rise, then gently stall—
Each bird a soul in flight once more,
Called home by whispers from before.

Announcements

Gmar Chatima Tova! The leadership of the Minyan wishes the entire community a Gmar Chatima Tova and a meaningful Yom Kippur.

Last chance to buy tickets for Yom Kippur! Harvard Hillel asks members of our community and guests (with the exception of current Harvard students) to purchase tickets in order to attendYom Kippur services. Ticket sales help cover the costs of all that Hillel provides for us year round. If the ticket price is too much for you, please select "other" and give what you can.

Sukkot! Stay tuned for upcoming announcements for Sukkot and Simchat Torah.

New to the community? If you’re new to the community, please share your information here to connect with fellow newcomers and receive invitations from community members eager to host.

Sign up to help with kiddush! Having a robust kiddush committee is key to having the wonderful kiddush each week we've become accustomed to. Please fill out this form to volunteer to help with kiddush in the future!

Camberville Eruv: The Camberville Eruv is in need of new checkers! The eruv is divided into 3 sections, with checkers specializing in one of the sections. Currently, one section is understaffed. It is covered by only two teams of checkers, which means these volunteers have to check every other week! Are you able to help out and volunteer to check the eruv? Typically, the commitment is to check once every 3-4 weeks, but there is some flexibility with this. Please let the eruv leadership team know if you are interested or have any questions by emailing Amy Robert at info...@nceruv.org

Please familiarize yourself with Harvard Hillel's exits in case of emergency. In addition to the main staircase, there are exits through the door behind the men's section and through the door to the left of the elevator. In continuation of last week’s other news, but, Adam, how could they never have told us that? Why would you question anything? We're bees. We're the most perfectly functioning society on Earth. You ever think maybe things work a little too well here? Like what? Give me one example. I don't know. But you know what I'm talking about. Please clear the gate. Royal Nectar Force on approach. Wait a second. Check it out. - Hey, those are Pollen Jocks! - Wow. I've never seen them this close.

The ZA'AKAH Peer-Support Hotline is available as a resource to our community for those who feel they need to talk to someone on Shabbat. It is not a substitute for professional crisis intervention. Call, text, or WhatsApp 1-888-4-ZAAKAH (1-888-492-2524).
