Challenge TTIP Negotiations in NYC: Volunteers Needed!

TTIP, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, is a massive trade deal between the US and the European Union that threatens a sustainable energy transition, food safety rules, animal welfare standards, banking regulations, public services, environmental regulations, data privacy, and democracy!
TTIP is meeting in Manhattan this week! Also this week, leading critics of TPP, TTIP, and other rotten trade deals will speak at superb conference organized by and held at the New School beginning Thursday evening and continuing from 9AM-6PM all day Friday.
On Thursday at the TTIP meeting, the negotiators open their doors
for "Stakeholder Sessions" and the Chief Negotiator Briefing."
These are the only events at the negotiations that are open to the
public and the media (assuming they registered by April 20). This
is our opportunity to send a message that the Obama administration
and the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) aren't
telling the real story about TPP and TTIP by encouraging attendees
and passersby to attend the New School conference to hear the REAL
story about rotten trade deals like TPP and TTIP.
Our plan:
1) Leaflet inside and outside the stakeholder session at the Midtown Hilton on 6th Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets with fliers promoting the conference between 10AM and 5PM.
Going inside is only an option for people registered by the 20th,
but we need additional volunteers outside. We'll have volunteers
there all day with leaflets and wearable signs. You can meet them
and help out! If you have questions or can't find them, here are
the names and phone numbers of our contact people at various
points during the day:
10AM -11:15 AM: Sally 201-560-7283
11:15-2 PM: Carlos (646) 416-3440
2PM-5PM: Eugene (475) 544432
2) Make press calls all day Thursday and on Friday morning to
promote the New School conference, so that reporters being fed
USTR's spin will have an opportunity to learn the truth about
trade deals for the 1%!
If you'd like to help, call Adam at (718) 218-4523 or email
ad...@tradejustice.net. You can call from the convenience of your
phone -- we'll email you a call script and a list of numbers.
