Would it be possible to build your own aux. battery pack to add to your Optibke R8?  to save money?  Would the aux battery pack need some kind of controller card?

Hi Robert,
I´m located in Hamburg, Germany and was looking for another source for new battery pack.
I got a quotation from Ralf Nitschkowski. He offered a solution with  37V 22,5Ah (Sony Konion2250V3)a new BMS, less PCBs, 2 years warranty for € 750,-. He was sure to supply a "form-fit-functiion"-solution. This was one year ago (March 2014)
I´m pretty sure, he can supply an aux-battery pack.

I don´t know it, but I guess he can handle an English inquiry. But if your are not based in Europe, it will end up this high expesences for shipping…

BTW, I didm´t order the battery pack - just no money …
Cheers
Chris

I just got my brand new 29 AH 36 volt pack from and installed by Opti.  What a rush.  After some break in I will see how far it will take me.

The battery was around 1600 US$.  They also tweaked the software and checked thing out in the transmission.  One pawl was sticking.

Hi Robert,
Sorry for my late reply to your post.
You need some kind of battery management system for Li-battery-pack.
I stripped the internal battery and found this:
10P10S of 18650, I guess this is well known.
The Controller is a BMS- PCB on top of the pack as well as balancing-PCBs on each of the 10P-Packs.

This means, no it's not that easy to build an external battery.

Hope, it helps
Chris
