Hi, It means that you don't have permissions on the server to create files/directories in the Moodle blocks directory. You'll either need to ask your Moodle server administrator to give you the right permissions, or log intot he server with a user account that already has permission.

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks a lot for your quick response.I have administrative rights for the moodle site for our organisations moodle page.

The process below is the one that that I have been following, but I have not been succesfull

Local rights for your Moodle installation (e.g. on shared hosting)

Download the zip file of the latest release of the block at:https://github.com/DigitalCampus/moodle-block_oppia_mobile_export/releases
  • Open the zip file and rename the root directory to be oppia_mobile_export (instead of moodle-block_oppia_mobile_export) - you may need to unzip and re-zip this file depending on your operating system.
  • In your Moodle server under the site admin -> plugins, select ‘install plugins’
  • Upload your new zip file as a new block

I have created a course on moodle and would want to test it on oppia mobile,I really appreciate your help

Hi Hannah,

If you're an administrator for Moodle, it's not the same as been an administrator for the server file system. For the Moodle server to be able to install the block using the method below, the user that webserver runs as on the server will need to have write permissions to the blocks directory.

To fix the issue, you'll need to ask your server administrator to give the Moodle process user (likely to be "www-data", or whatever Apache runs as, assuming Apache is the webserver) permissions to write to the Moodle blocks directory.

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Hannah,

We have noticed issues when installing/opening the app on some phone models, and we think this is something to do with how Android code accesses the SD cards on these devices. On Tuesday evening we put up an updated Oppia app on the Google play store, which ought to avoid this error on start up.

So I think the best thing to try is to firstly completely uninstall the app from the phone, then try installing the latest version from the Google Play store. Please let me know whether or not this fixes the problem and that the app opens ok.

Cheers,
Alex
