Enquiry about the oppia-android gsoc program

Hi Oppia team,

I am looking to join and contribute to the Oppia Android project.

It's great to find that Oppia is focusing on the android app as mentioned in the GSoC announcement video

But I also found a discussion mentioning that Oppia Android wouldn't be participating in GSoC.

I just wanted to clarify if Oppia Android is in the GSoC or not.

Hi,

Thanks for your question. I can confirm that Oppia Android won't be able to participate in GSoC this year, unfortunately, but Oppia Web will still be participating.

Note that this is a one-off, and Oppia Android hopes to be back in 2024 when we have better processes and documentation to help contributors get onboarded more smoothly. That said, in the meantime, you are still welcome to contribute to the project if it interests you!
