Dear Oppia Community,
We’re thrilled to announce that Oppia has been selected as a mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2026! This marks our 11th year of participation in the program. Over the past decade, GSoC has been an incredible opportunity for contributors to collaborate on impactful open-source projects, and we’re excited to continue this journey with new and returning contributors.

🤝 How to get involvedAlso, please ensure that you're on the oppia-gsoc-announce@ mailing list, since that's where we plan to send out future announcements about GSoC 2026 (and beyond).
Finally, please take a moment to look at this short guidance for GSoC applicants doc, which includes information on how to (a) request clarification on project ideas, and (b) get feedback on draft proposals. Please follow the instructions in the guide to avoid delays in getting your questions answered (or proposals reviewed). If you have any general questions remaining after reading the documentation, you can also ask them on GitHub Discussions (Web, Android).
If you are applying, we’d advise starting your proposal draft as early as possible, so that you have enough time to get feedback from the community and improve it. We also encourage you all to help each other out, where possible 🙂
Thanks, and we look forward to receiving your proposals!
Best,
Hardik Goyal
