Hi all,

I'm delighted to announce that the following 7 contributors will be working with Oppia as part of Google Summer of Code this year:

  • [LEAP] Nitish Kumar: Web user feedback (mentored by Mohit Ruwatia)

Hi! I’m Nitish Kumar, an undergraduate passionate about software development and open source. I enjoy diving into system design and understanding how real-world systems, from testing to large-scale deployments, work in production. This summer, I’ll be working on Oppia’s Web User Feedback project to make feedback more structured and useful for both users and developers. I'm excited to learn from the amazing folks at Oppia and contribute meaningfully this summer!

  • [LEAP] Mosin Shaikh: Learner assessments (mentored by Brian Rodriguez)

I am a final-year Computer Science student who enjoys building projects that simplify and positively impact people’s lives. This interest led me to explore open-source communities like Oppia. I love building and shipping products, and I’m excited to work on the Learner Assessment feature during GSoC 2026 with Oppia, which will help learners analyze their results and better understand their readiness across topics.

  • [LEAP] Kartik Suryavanshi: Re-design the topic page (mentored by Hardik Goyal)

I’m a computer science student passionate about open source and building impactful software. I enjoy solving real-world problems and have been actively contributing to projects that enhance learning experiences. I’m excited to be part of GSoC 2026 and contribute to the Oppia community.

  • [CORE] Rohan Unbeg: Extend translation infrastructure to exploration metadata and skills (mentored by Hasitha Kaushan)

I'm Rohan Unbeg, a student from Pune, India, and I'm excited to be working with the CORE team this summer! My project focuses on extending Oppia’s translation infrastructure to metadata and skills, and I’m looking forward to making the platform even more accessible to learners worldwide.

  • [Dev Workflow] Mohak Gautam: Improve acceptance test infrastructure (mentored by Jayam Patel)

Hi, I’m Mohak, a computer science student and an active contributor to Oppia’s Developer Workflow team. I’m excited to work on improving the acceptance test infrastructure, particularly focusing on Playwright migration and reducing test flakiness to make the system more reliable for contributors.

  • [Android] Neer Aryan Bhatta: Support for Lesson Progress, Study Guides, and Worked Examples (mentored by Kevin Thomas)

I am Neer Aryan Bhatta from Nepal, an Android developer who also volunteers to teach students from remote villages who lack access to quality learning materials, which is exactly why Oppia's mission resonates so personally with me. I am thrilled to be working on Project 4.1 (Lesson Progress, Study Guides, and Worked Examples) this summer, building features that will make Oppia lessons more navigable and effective for learners.

  • [Android] Sandesh Raj: Streamlining Release Automation (mentored by Adhiambo Oyier)

I’m Sandesh, an engineering student interested in backend systems and open source. I enjoy building scalable systems and contributing to meaningful projects. I’m excited to work with the Oppia community through my GSoC project.

If you’d like to learn more about what they'll be doing, you can find their proposals on the Oppia wiki (will be uploaded soon). Each contributor will also be maintaining a weekly contribution journal which will also be linked on the wiki page.

Please join me in congratulating them, and we look forward to an enjoyable and fulfilling summer ahead!

Thanks!
