COMMUNITY LIFE
Dear OP Church Family,
In celebration of six years of ministry among us by Pastor Vicki Copp, the Church Board is recommending a Love Offering to express our appreciation. If you would like to participate in this offering you may do so by marking your offering 'Pastoral Love Offering' and placing it in the offering on the next two Sundays as well as giving online (select 'other' and then note 'Love Offering' in the explanation). Pastor Vicki's last Sunday with us is today (Sunday). We hope to be able to complete the Love Offering by the last Sunday of the month (the 31st). Let's continue to pray for Pastor Vicki (and Dan) as she seeks the Lord's guidance for the next step as she pursues God's call. —The Board
Ash Wednesday Service: Join us Wednesday, February 10th for the beginning of Lent. We will gather at 6:00 PM in the Activity Center for a simple meal of soup and salad. Then, we will turn our attention to the Ash Wednesday service around the tables. Our focus is The Power and Meaning of the Cross. This is an important time in the life of our church, as we launch a church-wide emphasis on the importance of Jesus' death. Children, youth and adults are invited and will participate.
Community Life Nights, English Language Learners classes, and Wednesday activities begin with Ash Wednesday, February 10th. A full slate of activities is forthcoming. Look for more information coming soon!
Lenten Church-Wide Covenant Life Groups Begin February 14: Sign-up sheets will be available in the foyer beginning Sunday, January 31st. Small group studies for children, youth and adults will journey to the foot of the Cross through the weekly study, which coincides with the Sunday sermon. The Lenten theme, Blood: The Power of Crucifixion, will study the biblical images and understandings of Christ's death for us. Look for sign-up sheets next week!
District T.E.A.M. Day, Saturday, February 27, 8 AM – 1 PM at Olathe College Church. (Coffee at 7:30, onsite registration at 8). You will be challenged with relevant workshops for children, youth and adult ministries. Contact the church office by February 15th, if you would like to attend.
PULSE & ONE MINISTRIES
Pulse: How do we live in the world but not of the world? For the next few weeks, we will be going through a new series: Eyes to See. We'll have some fun listening to contemporary songs and watching movie clips so that we can discern how God calls us to be holy in a fallen world.
Connect Groups: Please join us tonight (Sunday) in the Activity Center for Pastor Vicki's farewell reception at 6:00 PM.
Chili Cook-Off & Auction: Mark your calendars! Our second annual Chili Cook-Off will be Saturday, March 5. Start thinking of where you could pick up some auction items so that we can raise money for camp and other activities!
CHILDREN MINISTRIES
Children’s Church Today (Sunday): Children (1st-5th) are invited to join us downstairs in Room 103 after the reading of the Gospel for a Missions lesson.
We will have quiz practice on Wednesdays in January from 6:45-7:45 PM.
