Current (Sept 2013) status of OPML support? Support for embedded images?

Hi all.

I've been doing a lot of research lately on outlining formats and programs.  I was hoping the OPML experts could help with a little info.

First, any work on the spec past 2.0?

Any good list of programs that support OPML for input, output, and native file format?

Also, any info on OPML files that can have embedded images or other binary files?  Right now, I'm using Circus Ponies Notebook as my main outline program.  It's great at creating and editing outlines and allows various graphics to be embedded.  However, if I export a note to OPML, I just get the text.  Any info or comments on this issue?  Other formats that support embedded graphics and support outlining?
