A new study released this week says that the average dog is at least as smart as the average toddler: I could have told them that without all the hair-pulling.

The finding is based on a language development test, revealing average dogs can learn 165 words (similar to a 2-year-old child), including signals and gestures, and dogs in the top 20 percent in intelligence can learn 250 words.

The study also shows that dogs have basic emotions. Which, again, any dog owner could have told the researchers. It's a fun article.
