Hi.
Attached please find two pieces of policy for today's meeting. Also there will be time to review the policy language in the meeting itself -- I'll go over the changes when we start reviewing each policy.
Some notes:
Minimum Minutes Policy
* Added the requirement that houses should keep minutes for 3 years, starting in Spring 2011.
Staff-Issued Conditional Contracts* Based on discussion with Jan and Kim, added more member protections as suggested by Jan:
- member given at least 72 hours to decide whether to sign the contract
- member must be notified of rights explicitly in writing
* Also added requirement that good-faith effort will be made to locate substitute Member Advocate if normal one is not available or has a conflict. Member will always have access to a Member Advocate during the 72 hour window
* Tried to get paragraph about corresponding with house manager right once and for all
* Based on correspondence with Member Advocate, made it explicitly clear that member could ask that overly vague language (e.g. "Member shall refrain from using inappropriate language") be clarified
* Made it clear that member could explicitly asked that conditions be removed, though doing so is at the discretion of the staff member.
I think this is looking much better and makes it clear to staff and members what rights and responsibilities are.
