Hi everyone,

after the recent annoncenments by Google, I wonder how Kubebuilder [1] compares to the Operator SDK as the goals (scaffolding, simplified API access) seems to be similar on a first sight.

What are the main diffentiator of both and why they are connected to different SIGs ? (sig-apimachinery vs. sig-operator-framework) And how does this all relate to OperatorKit [2] ?

thanks ...

BTW, I don't want to offend anyone. As I'm new to the operator business I just want to get the context right (as I haven't followed its history).

I would choose the one with larger community or has potential to have larger community.

If both projects are targeting the very same problem space (as it seems), it seems to turn out to become indeed a kind of a race. But still curious what are currently the technical and architectural differences between both projects (and how these has been evolved historically).
