to Operator Framework
Hi all! The newly elected Operator Framework chairs met and aligned on some fundamentals. Below you will find the minutes from the meetings, including all decisions (approved by consensus). If you have comments, questions, or concerns, please speak up!
  • Recording/Sharing of Chair meetings.
    • Meetings will be recorded for **only** the Chairs to review, minutes will be reported back to the mailing list
  • Acknowledgement of current state:
    • Without active chairs since CNCF donation, organization at the project level has been lacking.
    • Some OF level problems do not have an appropriate meeting/tracker/channel to discuss. (Example: Feature planning transparency)
    • Roles/permissions within projects are not consistent with defined policy, and procedure for change is unclear/unenforced
  • Responsibilities of the Chairs
    • Ultimate responsibility of the Operator Framework and subgroups
      • Note: OF is very “federated”
      • Ideally, this group will have a light touch, preserving WG autonomy
    • Maintain and enforce OF processes in the community repo
      • Membership/reviewers/approvers/admin
      • Own automation that enforces outlined processes
    • Encourage collaboration between WGs
    • Encourage timely decision making while promoting transparency and inclusiveness
    • Stewards of CNCF collaboration
      • Triage and handle CNCF emails (ie conference updates)
      • Utilize CNCF resources
    • Outreach and community growth
      • Improving developer experience (especially for new contributors)
  • Tracking Operator Framework level work
    • Major topics such as Governance changes, inconsistent roles/permissions, community membership, etc will be discussed openly and asynchronously as issues on the Community repo
    • Once/week the chairs will triage the community issues.
