Hello all,

Normally an operator-sdk release occurs every 3 weeks. The cadence of the next two releases (operator-sdk v1.3.0 and v1.4.0) will be slightly different due to operator-sdk's currently supported kubernetes version (v1.18) being well behind the version slated to be released next week (v1.20):
  • operator-sdk v1.3.0 has several issues in its milestone that depend on kubernetes v1.19 changes being made upstream, so this release will block until those changes are made (expected to be this or early next week)
  • operator-sdk v1.4.0 will be pulled forward and become a kubernetes v1.20 release (no other issues will be added to this milestone unless required for a kubernetes v1.20 bump)
Moving forward, operator-sdk releases that immediately precede releases for kubernetes minor versions will be delayed to include that minor version's dependencies, with hopefully a grace period of no more than a day or two. For example, if operator-sdk v1.5.0 will be released on January 1st and kubernetes v1.21 is intended for release on January 2nd, the new release date for operator-sdk v1.5.0 will be January 3rd. Since these dates are known in advance, planning releases around kubernetes release dates should not be difficult in advance.

Thanks!
