I've got Opera 5 and Opera 6.04 installed.
The website url for testing is https://localhost/index.jsp. This works no
problem in Opera 5, I get an wrong certificate warning which I expect but I
can click continue and use the site.
However, in Opera 6.04 I get a window with Secure Connection: Fatal Error
(47) in the title bar and Transmission Failed in the body.
The settings in preferences are identical in both versions, so what could be
the problem with Opera 6.04?
Pure guess on my part, but there might be something with the
certificate your server is presenting, and the crypto library v6 is
using is a lot stricter than the one v5 used. Code 47 means "illegal
parameter".
Possible reasons can be mixing v3 and v1 X509 certificates, missing
attributes, or attributes that are not allowed in that partiular
context.
Without actually looking at the certificate(s) I cannot say anything
more.

We needed to manually register our demo trusted certificate into Opera's
authorities database. It's working now!
