Is there a shortcut key that jumps the focus to the search box in the
active window (such as ^K does in Firefox)?

Thanks.

If you mean to search the text in the current page, just press the '.' key
and start entering your search text. Or the ',' key to search link text
only.

If you mean search engines then I press 'H' to focus on the address field
and then search from there (e.g., "g weather report" for Google or "o
custom searches" for the Opera knowledgebase). I find that easier that
using the mouse to click on form fields in search pages.

From http://www.opera.com/support/usingopera/operaini/ :

opera:config#UserPrefs|UseIntegratedSearch => Use available multi-search
field or "Find in page" field instead of dialog for "Find in page"

So enable it to make ctrl + f jump to the search box
