I have been using Firefox in OpenBSD -current because right now, Opera
9.5 doesn't work right with Linux Emulation. The usual suspect is
something to do with either memory or threading. I really enjoy Opera
and wish to use it, but I cannot for the life of me find any good
workarounds for making Opera work satisfactorily (doesn't hang every
10-20 seconds from initial start-up). Of course, the first step in
making it work perfectly would be to either get Opera to port over
the browser to OpenBSD, or to improve Linux Emulation to the point
that these things don't become an issue.
Does anyone know of any workarounds or possibly some other options I
might be able to use to make Opera glide semi-smoothly on the back
of OpenBSD?
Sincerely,
Aaron Hsu

Why didn't you try the FreeBSD version of Opera?

I did try this just the other day, and it doesn't seem to work. I
downloaded the FreeBSD Opera Static version, and then I attempted
to run it after installing the freebsd_libs from ports. I ended with
Opera giving me three Abort Trap messages before quitting.
Also, without Linux Emulation, Flash will not be available.
