Hey guys,
I need some help about how to use this very service. I subscribed
through Opera mail and I can see the posted messages, but I cannot
reply or post a new message; Opera says that I have not selected an
account from which to reply. By default Opera does not associate any
mail account to the newsgroup account, so I thought it was only a
matter of configuring the newsgroup smtp server to be, say, the gmail
smtp server. But still after that Opera keeps complaining. Is there
something I am missing?

For the record, I tried to simply send a message to
oper...@googlegroups.com and the server returned my mail. I'm
guessing that's just because opera.mac is not a newsgroup native to
Google Groups.

Thanks!

Al.

You don't need a mail account. All you need to do is setup the incoming
server. Opera will automatically use it to send messages (as smtp server)
too. Of course you do need to make sure the newsgroup account is selected
when you compose. Using the compose button in the tab that opens when you
view a newsgroup should work. If you use the one on the panel, you'll have
to manually select the right account from the "From" dropdown at the top.

Also, you should probably be posting this in opera.mail+news ;)

OK... I think now I got to figure it out. You don't need a mail account on
Opera, but you do need a mail address (for obvious reasons). I tried to
fix this in the "Servers" tab, but Opera expected me to insert my address
in the "General" tab. If you see this, it means that I got it :) Thanks!

pd: correction noted. Next time I have an issue like this I'll post it in
the right group ^_^
