Ladies and gentlemen, you're witnessing history. With this release,
Opera Software marks the first time in its history that updates for
all our desktop platforms based on the same code have been released
simultaneously.

Opera 7.50 Preview 4 for Mac is available for download. As usual,
discuss the new version in opera.mac and in the my.opera.com Opera for
Mac forum. Please do not distribute the download link directly, but
link to the post in opera.mac or in the my.opera.com Opera for Mac
forum.

Download Preview 4:

http://snapshot.opera.com/mac/o750p4_1734.tar.gz (build 1734)

=== Major Changes ===
* Improved OS Integration *
We're working hard to improve Opera's integration with Mac OS X. In
this release, you'll see better Addressbook and Keychain
synchronization, improvements to the Mac Native skin, and initial
support for OS X Services.

* Continued User Interface Experimentation*
In our efforts to improve the user interface, there have been a couple
more changes in this preview. The Personal bar has been reenabled by
default, the Start panel has been replaced by a Search panel, and
maximized panels and manage dialogs have been dropped in favor of
manage pages/windows. There's also a new <q>New page</q> button on
the Page bar that makes it easy to open a new page.

*Improved Opera Mail Resource Usage *
Opera Mail (the mail client formerly known as M2) has received lots of
attention this time around. It should use less memory, require less
time to start-up, and clean-up after itself better.

* Optimized Performance *
In our on-going effort to be "The fastest browser in the world," this
release should start-up and exit faster. Doing routine user interface
actions like toggling and resizing panels should also be faster.

A detailed list of changes is available at
http://snapshot.opera.com/mac/m750p4.html#detail.

Hmm...

After I closed the last tab via <Apple-W> the site remains visible, but
is not an active page... redraw-error in main screen?

I found improvements when using the keychain (when I deny the usage of
the keychain pre3 asked on and on, while pre4 asks a single time)

Difficult Layouts are displayed absolutly correct ( i.e.
premium.gamestar.de/aktuell/ if you're customer of GameStar online )

Nice, will keep using it... :-)

Yes, looks like this in MDI mode.

Yes, the main window should most likely be closed when the last page is
closed, just like in "Prefer separate windows" mode.

Try to face reality. The earth is not flat.

There are currently no plans to release Opera 7.x for OS 9.

Today I wanted to really switch to p4, and deleted my "Opera 7.5 pre3"
which resided in the same folder as my "Opera 7.5 pre4". After I
deleting the old app, my pre4 doesn't start anymore. The Opera symbol is
hopping in the dock for a short moment and then:

Das Programm "Opera" wurde unerwartet beendet.
Das System und andere Programme sind davon nicht betroffen.

which means:
The program Opera died unexpected.
System and other programs are not affected.

When I log in as a admin user, it starts (with banners). As normal User
I had a registered 6.x Opera, and saw no banners in pre4.

Owner and group: admin.admin
Rights: 775 (drwxrwxr-x)

Same settings are for all other programs in my Applications Folder.

Any suggestions?

Addition:

When starting Opera via console (Opera.app/Contents/MacOS/Opera) I get:

spell check init failed with code -7
Bus error

Put Opera.app to 777... but still not working.
Downloaded pre3 and copied it into the same path... again working
Deleted pre3... still working.

You see me confused...

OK. At least that's a step in the right direction.
