I do not want to use Opera for torrent downloads. In the application
setting for torrents I have set my preferred application (ktorrent).
However, every time I click a torrent Opera comes up with a dialog where
"Download with Opera" is selected. I then have to select "Use System
Default". How do I stop Opera from trying to take this download and go
straight to "System Default"? There's a "Remember Choice...." check box
below in the dialog, but it's grayed out and can't be checked. It almost
seems like Opera want to force you to use the built in client even if you
specifically have set it otherwise.

Here it works fine with Bittornado (and also tested with
bittorrent-gui). I use Opera 10.10 Build 4742 on Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.

That's so weird. I have the same problem on both Ubuntu and now Arch. I
can choose the default program, but Opera always suggests itself
regardless of what I set. I am running:
10.10 Build 4742 Platform Linux System x86_64, 2.6.31-ARCH

opera:config#BitTorrent|Enable is enabled? Unselect "Enable" is only
necessary to disable Opera's BitTorrent client, but not to disable
Opera's BitTorrent _and_ use a third-party BitTorrent client:
<http://www.opera.com/support/kb/view/840/>
Works here, if I set 'Open with another application' to
/usr/bin/ktorrent and 'Pass web adress directly to application'.
Normally I use rtorrent a watch folder and set application/x-bittorrent
to store *.torrent files right there without asking. AFAIK there's a
ScanFolderPlugin for ktorrent which do the same thing. Maybe that helps.
Opera 10.10 Internal. Build 4742 for Linux. Qt library 3.3.8b. Debian
Lenny

But why is the "Remember Choice....." grayed out? I would like to be able
to make a choice and have it do that, and not ask anymore. Is that not
possible as long as Opera;s BT client is enabled? I will try and enable BT
in Opera. That should take care of it. Thank you for your help

It does work here also, but the default choice is "use Opera". I can't
choose "Use System Default" as default action for torrents since the check
box is grayed out.

I will try that, thanks.

Hm, maybe cause Opera couldn't find any system default application and so
it offers no checkbox for it?

Good news. Ten weeks from Friday will be a pretty good day.

Access problems for saving the preferences?
I do not think that's the problem since I am able to change and store all
other settings without problem.
