The file should be in $HOME/.opera

The problem with Linux is that users always BASH Tux's shell. Linux 2.4.7-10

All personal settings are store in the ".opera" directory in your
home directory. Note, there have been no changes in the print code.
Do you use the same Qt as in 6.02? Have you swicthed shared <-> static
package in 6.03 ?

Go to your HOME directory and look in .opera/
The file you are looking for is called opera6.ini.
Or check "File | Preferences | Path | Opera user directory" or "Help |
About" (Paths) if you want to be *really* sure.

thanks everyone for responding...i did find the file in .opera, I had to
unhide the files....a copy was also sitting in trash....just to give you
some insight, I found the problem I believe. When I reinstalled mandrake
on this box, and was adding packages, I added the spooler foomatic...this
gave opera fits, and it is not easy to get rid of, it keeps wanting to
come back........opera 6.03 works great with cups....once I got rid of
foomatic, I no longer felt like a fool.....the moral, if you are going to
print on a network printer, not connected to a box and use cups, stay
away from foomatic.....again thanks everyone, I learned somemore...

The printers I had defined went away for me too.

How did you manage that? I can't get it to print at all...
Al Preston.
I am using mandrake 8.2. I am now using 6.03 dynamic, (had no probl with
.01 & 03 either).....now in my latest set of probl...which has nothing to
do with cups, I had to uninstall opera and get rid of the config file so
i could be fresh.
in my case I found out that I had to have cups up and running and the
printers recogonized before I installed opera. I installed the cups
proggy and then went in...I used mandrake's control center....used expert
mode because I have no computers on this box. on two other machines I do
have the printers on the box, so it was a little easier.
I then created the printer, tested it, and tried it in a couple of
programs....now in my case I found the lpnd mode worked best for the
network printer which is on a print server. it automatically recognized
the printers on the other boxes (all linux). I then installed opera and
in the printer section it found my printer. (it says its locally
connected, it is not, but who cares right)....works just fine...in my
case the key was to make sure I had the right cups driver for the printer
which was no probl.
I mentioned I had a problem with this box, the reason is redid the os
from scratch and added the foomatic package, this created a spooler that
gave opera fits. so I uninstalled opera and deleted the config file with
my personal settings. For your info, I accidentally downloaded the
static verison the first time it also worked.....
I know this is long, if I can unconfuse anything just ask....
I'm using a locally connected printer. Cups starts on bootup, and I can
print
from other applications (including Netscape and other browsers). Opera
(I have 6.03
static installed) correctly identifies the printer and indicates it's
locally
connected, and when I attempt to print a file I get a dialog box saying
"printing
page 1"... etc., but nothing happens at the printer. I suspect a
spooling problem
somewhere, but I'm not at all sure where to look.
Guess I'll keep fiddling with it to see what's happening...
Al Preston
do you have a spooler installed, such as foomatic...if so this is the
problem....it is what i had a problem with...I had to uninstall foomatic
and cups, and opera, and delete the opera config file.....then install
cups, then after the printer was working there, I installed opera
again......it sounds redundant, but once I cleared this it worked...
Oddly enough, I wasn't using foomatic, but am now. The problem was
corrected when I tried a different driver. Out of 5 drivers available
for my printer, I had been using the one that didn't use foomatic. When
I tried one of the others, it worked immediately. During the process, I
discovered that two copies of the original driver were being loaded for
some reason, probably confusing Opera. After removing one, I was able to
print with the old driver also. This is somewhat heartening, because one
of my printers has only one driver available - a CUPS/foomatic one.
Thanks for the tips
Al Preston
