When I try to drag the map it acts as if I'm clicking the map and increases
magnification. Anybody else noticed this? It makes navigation quite
useless. Dragging is pretty convenient. Seems to work fine in
Firefox....what a surprise. Google maps in Opera is perfect.

This has occasionally happened to me there and at a number of sites
with Opera 10.10b/RC. I've assumed it's mouse related, maybe pressing
on one of the top buttons (Logitech MX11), but it never happened
before this version of Opera, even with this mouse. Maybe worth
reporting as a bug.

If it was mouse related wouldn't we notice the same thing on other map
websites that allow dragging like Google's?
Just to make things difficult, I went back to try it again and it worked
perfectly. Then it did it again - so its a sporadic problem. Gotta love
sporadic problems for easy resolution!

Drags normally here, also scroll wheel controls zoom nicely, in contrast
to maps.google where scroll zoom has been busted for some time.

Interesting. The scroll wheel has always worked perfectly on all websites
in all versions of Opera for me.

Are you saying you can scroll zoom on maps.google.com with 10.01?

That never worked for me in 9.64 and I seem to remember some conversation
here about that being a common problem. Then it worked in 10b but didn't
make it to the RC, at least for me.

Yes - never a problem with any Opera version. Never used to be a problem
with Yahoo until recently - don't know if it occurred when I upgraded to
10.0.

Same here. Both Yahoo and google maps zoom with the scroll wheel. I
guess a lot of people like that. I find it annoying both visually and
because out of habit I expect it to respond to scrolling like every
other page.

Interesting. Maybe it is the mouse. Logitech MX1000, Logitech driver
4.82.4
Anyone zooming successfully with that?

I installed 4.82.11 and it scrolls the map fine.

A few things I recently discovered that helps a lot with maps for either
site is to first go full screen (F11), then zoom the map
(Control_mousewheel) so the map precisely fills the space. Zoom so the
lettering on the map is also comfortable to look at. At default 100% zoom,
its often pretty small for those of us with high resolution monitors.
Luckily this is Opera strong area - zooming. Make sure your zoom control on
the map (the vertical bar with a + on top and a - on the bottom) is still
there and use that to zoom. It seems to be more precise than the
mousewheel. Sometimes you get a lag with the mousewheel. Drag the map if
you can - its very convenient for centering. If you click the map to center
it will also zoom in. That's inprecise. You want to center - not
necessarily zoom in. Hope that helps. Oh - also to create marker points on
the map helps too often to get perspective of the area involved. Looking
for directions creates a A, B, C, etc points on the map that you can use for
reference. Sure beats fold out. wrinkled, ripped maps from yesterday!
