I am currently using Opera 7.11 on my windows machine and I would like
to use the JRE provided with Oracle 9i (JInitiator). The problem is
that unlike in the Linux version of Opera 7.11 (under
File->Preferences->Multimedia), you can not specify the path to the
JRE you want to use. The only option available is the check box
('Enable Java') that activates/desactivates the support for Java.
Does this mean that the Windows version of Opera assumes that you
always use a JRE from SUN? Is there a way around this?

AFAIK Opera only looks for SUN and IBM system-wide JAVA
implimentations. This is not a fact, just observation. YMMV

Perhaps placing the Oracle JAVA plugins in Opera might be made to
work.

None of the above is absolute, Hope OS will post here on this topic
for you.

AFAIK, Opera only works with the IBM and Sun JREs. However, by
following the instructions at
http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=494, you may
be able to get Opera to recognize the Oracle JRE. Please report back
your (lack of) successes.
