I found this meta tag someplace:

<meta name=MSSmartTagsPreventParsing content=true>

Does it realy prevent smart tagging?

It's supposed to. However, we don't have to worry about it
anymore since they've been complete removed from Windows XP and IE
6.0. More info at

Rumors persist that they will return with xp service pack 1. MS has
hinted it is a done deal.

But why Opera users are worried about that? This is only for IE users,
right?

If is not only for IE, one reason more for filters in Opera :)).

Right!

I am worried about that because it can lead IE Users away from my
Opera-Fan-Page by showing some disguisting clickable Smart Tags to them.
You know the average IE user, do you?
If there is something to click they will click! ;-)

Opera Users know the benefits of this browser, but to convert an IE user it
takes a lot of persuasive power! I know what I'm talking about, I had been
an IE user too.... until Op5 was released ;-))

It is only for IE. However, as a web designer, it is a major
concern.

My question was not to Opera users (clients) but to website designers
so that the tag

<meta name=MSSmartTagsPreventParsing content=true>

should be a mandatory line in all web pages.

There is no reason that users should have to add something to
their web pages to prevent IE from editing their page before it is
presented to the user. SmartTags should be opt-in, not opt-out.
