How to force Speed Dial backgroud to Auto-Update

I've set the Speed Dial background photo to be a file that gets updated
daily on my PC (the daily Astronomy Picture of the day via the APOD
program). However, even though the file content changes (meaning I get a
new picture each day), the file is always named apod.bmp or apod.jpg (both
exist).

But the Speed Dial doesn't reload this image each time it's used, it only
shows from the last time the Speed Dial Background option is configured.

Is there a way to force this to reload each time used so I'll start to see
my new APOD photo every time I use the Speed Dial page?
