i know from xenclient when you move the hard disk to another motherboard you need to reseal the installation but i don't know how to enter into the console mode when openxt boot....
i tried to hit ESC or ALT+F3 without any luck

Hi!

If the OpenXT installation does not get to the screen that prompts you to reseal, there is likely some other early boot problem happening.  Double check that your BIOS settings are properly set for OpenXT on this new machine, and if you can attach a serial cable to capture early boot logs, that would be helpful in determining where in the boot process OpenXT is getting stuck.

Hey Marco,

I don't believe it is as simple to just swap the harddrive over to a new machine, things like the TPM will not provisioned and the tboot vlpolicy will not be installed.

My first question would be did you select VM encryption when you created the VMs? This is not a show stopper as long as you remember your recovery password.

Next question, do you have an external media that could hold your VM disk(s)? This will make it much easier to recover.

Unless others can some up with another approach, you are going to have to re-install to get OpenXT properly paired with the hardware.

First thing I would do is boot off of any Linux installer/recovery image or the OpenXT installer (preferred). Then you LVM tools to discover the OpenXT VG and LVs. The storage LV will hold your VM disks, mount it and copy the VHD files off.

Now if you did encrypted VMs and/or you want to preserve your VM's configuration, you will need to access the config LV. To do this, you will need your recovery password. You will use `cryptsetup` with slot0 and the recovery password to open the LUKS volume on the config LV. Once opened, mount it. Then copy dom-store,and vms directories from the LUKS volume. If you used encrypted VMs, then you will need to copy the keys directory, but do not copy (or delete after copy) the config.key, cores.key, and log.key files.

Now you can do a fresh install of OpenXT and post boot, place all the copied files back into their original locations, then reboot the system. This should get you back to your original state.

If the VMs do not show up after reboot, then you may have to use the GUI to create empty domains, and then copy the contents of the old VM config into the new VM config files. If you have to do this, reply back and I can get you the details on that.

Hi , i have tried to hit Esc immediately when i saw openxt prompt , no luck , tried to keep pressed Esc until the openxt logo disappear with no luck
both pc are the same , same firmware , same configuration of the bios.
i tried to refresh the installation with the same iso of openxt but ended in error the process.
so i used another ssd and reinstall from skratch openxt , tried to hit Esc on openxt boot up but again no option to select for admin console to reaseal so i endup rebuild the vm structure and restore the backup from veeam endpoint backup server....
in the next days i will have technician on site to reapair the broken one (mainboard swap) and i will try to install that ssd with openxt and see what happend with the reaseal.
if everything goes wrong , do you think if i format that ssd , reinstall openxt , shutdown the pc , restart and hit ESC i will enter the reseal option?

In theory, Shift-ESC (device with CSM/BIOS) or ESC (device with UEFI) should work.

Or boot into the OpenXT installer, switch to a text console and change the timeout in grub config.

Which version and build number of OpenXT are you using?

Hi Marco,

Please try: Hold down Shift before powering your machine on and keep
it held down during boot: it should enable interactive access to the
GRUB boot menu, where you can select options to enable console access,
boot with safe graphics, synchronized console or boot with AMT serial
to assist with further diagnosis.
