Hi, I am attempting to connect OpenXdata to OpenClinica ideally to have
patient data downloaded from OpenClinica to OpenXdata for updating and
for the updated information to be fed back to OpenClinica. I do not seem
to have much luck in adding the new settings(it may be ignorance on my
part). I would really appreciate if you could send me instructions on
how to go about this. I am using version 1.3.2.

Very many thanks, Waithira

Hi Waithira,

Thanks for the inquiry.

Are you using the mobile? What instructions are you using?

Hi Waithira,

Great to hear you are interested in OpenClinica-openXdata integration!

We have a project called OMEVAC which has an aim of providing a proper mobile solution to OpenClinica.
Mark is leading that effort now.

We did have an earlier prototype version , but that work was never completed and due to faulty implementations, Mark++ had to start afresh. So we are a bit behind, but we aim to have field tests early next year.

We would be very interested in learning more about what you are doing and aligning the work.

Please sign up for the openXdata-users list (see bottom of page at www.openxdata.org)

Best regards,
Jørn

Hi Jørn,

I would be very interested to learn more on OMEVAC.

We have been using OpenClinica for a couple of years now but since
OpenClinica is web-based and has no offline module (yet) we have missed
a lot of data collected in remote areas that have limited or no internet
connectivity. We have been looking for a solution that can enable users
collect data on portable devices( mobile phones, tablets, pdas etc) and
synchronise with the main OpenClinica database.

We came across the work that has been done using OpenXdata
(https://trac.openxdata.org/wiki/OpenClinica) and would be happy to
test and work together to come up with a working prototype.

Best regards,

Waithira

Hi,

Thanks for the inquiry.

We have been working on merging the mobile capabilities of openXdata with OpenClinica. Currently, we are in prototyping phase really and as Jørn mentioned, we are aiming for a field test early next year.

All the required documentation can be found here (if you have not yet perused through):

1.https://trac.openxdata.org/wiki/Openclinica
2. https://trac.openxdata.org/wiki/how_it_works

We have currently managed to implement the round trip on the web from openclinica to openxdata. What that means is that you can import and convert openclinica studies to openxdata forms that can potentially run on the mobile device.

We have been bogged down by some limitations like:

1. The odm forms are quite large and when converted to openxdata forms (and at the same time trying to replicate the openclinica workflow), you have an explosion of xml that is hard to process. But we have been working to fix this and I am testing out some fixes.

2. How to implement the openclinica workflow in openxdata. As you notice, openXdata is generic and does not add context to data collection like there is no notion of patients. But we have been working on integrating workflows in openXdata and be able to provide openclinica users leveraging the openXdata mobile with the ability to have a predefined workflow within which they can execute their tasks.

3. We had some missing services that we required from openClinica. These are being implemented and integrated in openXdata and will be ready by the end of the month.

4. We had to rethink the design the past two weeks because the earlier conversions were not 100% compartible with the way the openXdata form designer handles xforms. The problem was that the converted forms were using true xpath which the openXdata web desiger and mobile do not support fully as yet!

As soon as the above are thrashed out and we have a working prototype, I would be interested in having you work with it and see how it fits.

Also, I am interested in collaborating. You can email me with specific areas to you wish to contribute on. We can work out a way to coordinate this effort.

Thank you for the inquiry

Mark

I am also trying to setup OpenClinica an openXdata but currently unable to import CRFs from the oxd (ver 1.3.5).  I have followed the documentation provided on https://trac.openxdata.org/wiki/OpenClinica. My ultimate goal is gto get this working on an Android phone as illustrated on https://trac.openxdata.org/wiki/OpenClinica/mobile. Has anybody successfully implemented oxd and OpenClinica.

Alternatively, has anyone managed to implement oxd and Android phone. I suppose I would have to maybe adapt thedata collection to collect on android, extract the data in csv and use another app like MirthConnect to convert the csv to ODM XML w3hich can be imported to OpenClinica.

Any other suggestions?

Regards,
Caesar

Hi Caesar -

What version of openclinica are you using? Also note that the version of the mobile retrofitted for openclinica *will* not work with android -
