Hi all

Over the last few weeks, I have been working on getting eCollect, the offline data-collection client for pc, netbooks, smart-phones and tablets to work with the latest OpenXdata server. I am glad to announce that the first implementation is now completed. As of now, eCollect war file can be generated and the client can run on any browser.

The following features in eCollect are working:
1. Authentication of user from the server and downloading user details on the device
2. Downloading of user mapped forms
3. Uploading completed data

I have also updated the eCollect wiki page with the steps on how to run, so anyone who is interested in testing eCollect, you can check this wiki link:
The wiki page also contains a short tutorial on getting started with using eCollect. If someone has issues in running eCollect, you can contact me.

There are many things that are still pending on eCollect, including a ticket for OXD forms toolbar (#926). I will also be uploading an Android package (.apk) for running eCollect on android smart-phones and tablets, within the next few days.

Regards
Raghu

Hello Raghu,

I am trying to set up OpenxData and eCollect Android App but I am stuck. Setting the Mobile Module URL and Mobile Service Relative URL. How can I set this according to the documentation I need to 2 war files running (admin-x.y-eCollect.war and openxdata.war ) I have installed these and went on further and set up 2 databases. When I test the pages from a browser I am able to access both applications.

On trying to link the eCollect app to eCollect Server I get a connection error. Could please guide me in setting the value proxy-filename/Ecollect/formdownup or ecollect-2.0-SNAPSHOT/Ecollect/formdownup. Which of the 2 applications (from previous war files) should proxy-filename be equated to or do I need to deploy another war file? The documentation seems a bit unclear to me regarding this step. Apologies if I have asked a seemingly obvious.

Regards,
Caesar

Hi Caesar,

I think you missed installing the eCollect war file. And you need just 1 openxdata war file and just 1 database to which openxdata connects to.

So once you install eCollect war file and say it is called eCollect.war, then your mobile relative service url should be: eCollect/Ecollect/formdownup

Let me know if you have any other queries.

Regards,
Raghu
