Hi Guys,

We are planning to do a pilot test using the OpenXdata, I intend to
use Nokia 2730c for this, because it has 3G which has fater data
transmission. Just one query, will it have any issues since it is not
listed on the compatibility list?

Please advice.

Thanks,

Kabuti

Hi Kabuti,

If the Nokia 2730c is based on Symbian S40 or S60 you should be fine. We are using Nokia phones with 3G connectivity with no problems.

Hi Kabuti,

Based on:

The 2730c is a S40 so I can't imagine that you'll have any problems - I've never had a problem with an S40 phone.  Do let us know it's working though so we can add it to the list - the only reason we haven't tested them all is we don't have money to buy them all.

I am not 100% on this but isn't 3G like EDGE.  If so, then EDGE is available on many S40 phones including the 2700 which is tried and tested and you may find slightly cheaper.

With regards to "fast" data transmission.  Are you going to be sending images/multimedia? If not, then you really don't need to worry about the speed - you will be sending a few kb at a time so even on regular GPRS (which could get you as cheap as a 2320 $20-30) you won't notice the difference.

Depends what you're trying to do of course.

Best,

Bird

Thanks Sarah for detailed description.

2730c is working well with the system. You can get it added to the
list.

Please let me know how images can be transferred.
Once i upload data along with the image from the mobile instrument it
gets uploaded but please let me know how to view it on the computer (I
am not able to do so).

Hi Amit

To view the images, there are currently two options:
 1. you can either open the data from in the "Data List" tab. First search for data in your form and then open each data set individually. Note: this will require that your form has a layout (which can be automatically generated in read-only mode if you open your form in design mode and click on the "design surface" tab).
 2. you can enable the RDBMS data export (under Tasks), which exports your form data to a database table. You would need to use a database program to view the data. Note: the table name is the form binding (also viewable in design mode, but not editable once your form has submitted data).

Regards
Dagmar

Hi There,

I am looking out for a pilot with Nokia Asha 310. How compatible is it to use mforms2.

Best,
Amit

Amit,

We have used ASHA 205 with mForms. ASHA 310 should be fine.
