Greetings,

In case anyone was curious about my recent activity, at Jørn's request I have updated the account management application. It now gives feedback on the relative strength of specified passwords.

Hi Brent

I'd be interested to know what application we are using for account management. In fact a small diagram / explanation of how all the OpenXdata systems (trac, svn, jenkins) fit together would probably be very useful if you have the time.

Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,

An entirely accurate description is going to take more time than I have at the moment. The tools the project was using needed additional functionality and/or patching to make things work in ways that others support already. Fortunately, the configuration is conventional and similar to other infrastructure commonly used for Java development. I drew up a diagram for a migration proposal for my prior employer, and the pieces are configured very similarly. In the diagram, Nexus == Archiva, Jenkins == Continuum.

As for the account management, we're using OpenLDAP, with some customization using overlays. The on-line account management piece is tiny web application I wrote that provides a simple front-end for managing people's LDAP credentials. It just runs in Tomcat and needs the ability to connect to LDAP and an SMTP server.

Hope that helps,

Brent

Forgot that diagram. Also, it doesn't include any mention of issue tracking, but there really isn't any linkage except for the build server publishing build links to tickets that include commits referring to the corresponding issue numbers. I had to develop my own Jenkins plugin for that. While the Jenkins community has had a plugin for JIRA to do this for some time, Trac support wasn't available. It's available now through the Jenkins plugins system, so Trac users have the option.
