Control Steering wheel and throttles

Hi All,

Just wondering how to use OpenXC to control steering-wheel and throttle?

As in the documentation:

You can also write a message back to the vehicle interface (which may or may not write it through to the CAN bus, depending on if it is an approved signal or not):

$ openxc-control write --name steering_wheel_angle --value 42.0

will that work? it says that it may not work since it can be not approved signal? it is not approved signal then how to take control of the car vis OpenXC , mainly the steering wheel and the throttle?

Hi Erik,

If you are going to do a named write, you will need to have that name supported in your firmware. See

We cannot provide you any information on how to control steering or throttle however.
