Hi team,
I’m observing the following behavior in my Nginx access logs:
***.40.0.*** - - [17/Mar/2026...] "GET /controller/download-config/.../?management_ip=10.8.*.* HTTP/1.1" 200 4311.

My question is: When a device performs a full configuration download, is it intended to pull that data over the Public WAN IP (**.40.**.**) or should the traffic be routed through the Management/TUN IP (10.8.x.x)?

In our current setup, Nginx identifies the source as the Public IP, even though the management_ip is passed as a parameter.

Could you clarify if openwisp-config prioritizes the management interface for these pulls, or if it always defaults to the primary WAN route?

Regards,

logu
