Thank you all for participating in the Kickstart meeting today!

Next steps for the contributors:
  • Send a calendar invite to your mentors for dates when your availability will be limited due to conflicting obligations (as initially stated in your GSoC application).
  • Convert your GSoC proposal into an actionable plan: open GitHub issues if needed, add everything to the Kanban board, and ensure the relationship between issues is explicit.
  • Create the gsoc26 branch on the repositories you'll be working on, all PRs must target that branch. FW upgrader needs 2 different branches, one for each project, eg: gsoc26-metadata-extraction and  gsoc26-persistent-scheduled-upgrades.
  • Complete outstanding open PRs in which we have invested considerable time and are almost ready to merge. Feel free to close any other PR you think isn't worth pursuing anymore or, alternatively, if the PR has interesting work but you can't finish it, leave a comment stating you won't be working on it in the foreseeable future so other contributors can pick it up without feeling guilty of overstepping on you.
  • Begin sharing daily updates in the chat dedicated to your gsoc project.

BTW I didn't mention it today on the call so I want to do it here: I encourage you to share significant progress on any OpenWISP work you do on social media. Focus your posts on the technical aspects, including screenshots or videos. I will share them on the OpenWISP channels to give them visibility.
Next steps for mentors:
  • Make sure you have access to the chat and the Kanban board.
  • Review the actionable plan prepared by the contributors ensuring no critical aspects are overlooked.
  • Coordinate with the rest of the team to arrange the weekly meetings, I'll be sending out polls shortly.
Thanks!
Best regards
Federico Capoano
