Hello everyone,

This thread will be used to track the progress of the GSoC 2026 project, X.509 Certificate Generator Templates.

[May 25 - May 29]

List of Tasks I have worked on :

Opened #228 to add support for custom X.509 extensions in django-x509 while keeping it generic.
Opened #1378 which Introduces DeviceCertificate model and extended current template choices to include certificate type template.
Started work on updating admin, REST APIs and implementing certificate lifecycle methods.

Tasks I will be working on next week:

Completing certificate lifecycle implementation with added tests.
Start working on auto-regenration of certificates on device update #1359.

Implemented and tested certificate lifecycle and REST APIs in #1378.
Started working on documentation in #1378.
Started context injection implementation in #1378.

Tasks I will be working on next week:

Completing context injection implementation with added tests.
Start working on auto-regeneration of certificates on device update #1359.

Completed context injection implementation with added tests in #1378.
Implemented certificate regeneration for device modification in #1378.
Implemented config status update in #1378.

Tasks I will be working on next week:

Start refining documentation and test for ideal coverage in #1378.
Add selenium tests for each feature.
Video documentation for implementation walkthrough.

Added selenium tests in #1378 referring end to end testing and generic notification.
Started refining documentation.

Start stress testing over the implementation in #1378.
Verify ideal coverage in #1378 and increase if needed.
Accept and address periodic reviews.
Video documentation for full implementation walkthrough.

Opened #1410 to confirm UI for device admin showing certificate details.
