CALL FOR PROPOSALS: 30-Minute Open Course Tours

Presentation Opportunity: SCHEV-OVAC Spring 2022 Open Education Week Event Please indicate your interest by completing this application by January 31, 2022.

The SCHEV Open Virginia Advisory Committee (OVAC) is seeking presenters for 15-20 minute presentations on their open courses followed by 10-15 minutes for question and answer/discussion:

What is an Open Course?

  • A course in any modality which utilizes open pedagogical practices or uses open educational resources (OER). OER are learning resources which are released under open licenses and made freely available.

Eligibility and Selection criteria:

  • Currently full-time, part-time, or contingent faculty or teaching appointment at a public or private institution of higher education in Virginia

  • Presentation focuses on a course which utilizes an Open Educational Resource (OER) or implements Open Educational Practices (OEP)

  • Have taught the course using OER or OEP in the past three years

  • We intend to select presentations from diverse disciplines and institution-types.

  • OER and related content (syllabi) should be available at the time of the presentation, so participants can immediately directly access materials.

  • Preference will be given to applications reflecting zero course material costs for students.

Thank you for considering this professional service opportunity to advance open education and scholarship practices across Virginia. Accepted presenters will receive an honorarium for their contributions.

Applicants will be notified by February 11, 2022. Speakers with accepted proposals are expected to consent to live streaming and recording.

Thank you on behalf of the SCHEV OVAC.
